Ntando Mhluzi

Ntando Mhluzi is a member of the Lighthouse Academy Cohort for 2026. She was born and raised in Johannesburg and relocated to the Western Cape in 2023 to pursue her legal studies.

She has recently completed her undergraduate degree at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) and plans to continue her studies there by pursuing a Master’s degree. During her time at UWC, Ntando developed a strong passion for student leadership and social justice, playing an instrumental role in several student and community-based organisations.

In 2024, she served as a Res Life Ambassador, forming part of UWC’s student leadership cohort. In the same year, she held the position of Secretary of Leaders in Demand (LiD), a women-led organisation focused on empowerment and professional development. Alongside this, she served as Treasurer of the Black Lawyers Association, where she played a key role in securing significant sponsorships for organisational events.

Ntando’s legal interests include Commercial Law, Competition Law, and Intellectual Property Law. With the increasing influence of artificial intelligence within the legal industry, she recognises the growing importance of legal technology and is eager to explore this evolving space further. She is excited about the opportunity to join Lighthouse Academy and hopes that her time in the programme will help shape her professional path and clarify her calling within the legal industry.

Beyond academics, Ntando has a strong appreciation for the dramatic arts. Having taken drama both as a subject and an extracurricular activity, she enjoys being on stage and using storytelling as a form of expression. This experience has significantly contributed to her confidence and communication skills.
