Matthew heads up our Deals portfolio and particularly enjoys working on large and complex system integration transactions

Matthew particularly enjoys large and complex system integration transactions and has completed three such transactions in the past 12 months, two with South Africa’s largest retail bank and the other with a large travel provider in the United Kingdom. In addition, Matthew has recently worked closely with Southern Africa’s largest non-alcoholic beverages bottler and distributer assisting their procurement and IT functions set up their IT infrastructure in South Africa and across Southern Africa, and in doing so, has drafted and negotiated service agreements and roll out plans across Africa.   

In addition to his representative experience, Matthew is passionate about legal technology and how this can be used to streamline and automate both internal and external processes. Matthew heads up the project team at Lighthouse Law that focuses on how knowledge can be captured to empower team members so that we have information, materials and precedents at our fingertips. This includes sourcing technology that fits the requirements and objectives of clients and Lighthouse Law, aiming to increase efficiency so that our lawyers and our client’s in-house teams can focus on tasks where their expertise is of greatest value.

Before seeing the light and focussing on commercial law, Matthew worked as a commercial litigator in one of Cape Town’s prominent medium sized firms where he had numerous reported judgments and judgments marked reportable.
